Misfits is the new name for a startup delivering produce for customers in India.
Ellen, the brand, will soon be able to deliver fresh produce to its customers in a variety of different delivery services.
The service is available for Rs. 8 per pound in the state of Madhya Pradesh and is free for all the first month.
According to Ellen’s co-founder Kalyan Bhagwat, the service is an attempt to create a new industry in India that is a lot more sustainable and profitable than the food service sector.
Bhagwat said, the company is aiming to help the farmer and the consumers, as well as the farmers and the rural workers.
The startup will also deliver produce to other areas, such as restaurants and cafes, to help customers get their groceries delivered, he added.
The company is currently in talks with major grocery chains such as Walmart, Safeway, Aldi, and Jamba Juice.
Bhagsawat said that he and his co-founders had initially started out as a marketing and product development company for food packaging companies.
In the next three to four years, they plan to create more services for the agriculture sector, he said.
